V-Day Gasonomics 2015

The avg price of 1 gal of “all grades all shades” gas as of Mon 2/9/15 was $2.276 (which is $14.3¢ higher than the Mon b-4 SB Sun). With that said, it is $1.401 lower than 2 yrs ago the Mon b-4 V-Day. Those savings for our mythical V-Day month materializes into $14.01 B for our economy (Our calculations are based on 3 T miles traveled in 1 yr with an avg gas consumption of 25 mpg). If V-Day was a Nation (V-Dayland) with the purchasing power (GDP) of $14.01 B it have the 147th biggest economy in the world and be sandwiched b/t Kosovo at 146th and Niger (formerly at 147th, but reranked to 148th b/c of V-Dayland). As such it would be a top 65% economy in the world. JUST 4 THE RECORD $14 B is 74% of what will be spent for V-Day 2015 ($18.9 B).

For our 4 person family with 2 drivers each driving 1000 miles a month with a 25 mpg, we calculate a total fam savings of $112.08 for our mythical V-Day month.
