AN ECON BASED ON SB “AD FLATION”, 2016

LBJ was Prez in ’67; Nam War blazed on; racial violence ripped through the US; and Red China exploded its 1st H Bomb (Sounds like whom?).  Thurgood Marshall becomes the 1st AF AM SCT Judge. PBS was created. Bonnie & Clyde, Cool Hand Luke & Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner were fab flicks; Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Beattles) & the musical Hair (Sinatra’s “Stranger in the Night” [“record of the year”] were BIG. Michelle (written by Lennon & McCartney) was “Song of the Yr”.  TVs saw The Fugitive & The Monkees. Muhammad Ali lost his HWT Crown (Draft Evasion). Christian Barnand (S Africa) transplanted the 1st heart. On 1-15-67 GB $mashed KC (35-10) in a 2/3 filled LA Coliseum to see the 1st The NFL-AFL World Chmpshp Game (i.e SB I).

In 1967 a 1st class stamp was 5¢; 18¢ for a McD single; 33¢ for 1 gal of reg gas; Fed’l Min Wage was $1.40; a new auto avg’d $5,212; US’ GDP was $3.31 T & a 30 sec SB ad avg’d $40,000 (With CBS & NBC both TVing SBI). Today, a McD single is $1± (a 5.6 MLP); Gas is $2.03 per gal (a 6.2 MLP); Fed’l Min Wage is $7.25 (a 5.2 MLP); a new auto today avgs $32,531± (a 6.0 MLP) & a ½ min SB ad costs $5M (a ’67 MLP of 125), 125 WOW! 1 gal of gas using SB math would cost = $41.25 (33¢ x 125). Please see Col.5 for SB Ad-flation.

Please NOTE that the ONLY items in the table below that exceed a MLP (’67 to ‘15/16) of 50 (besides the Nat’L Debt) are SB ads, SB ticket and an NFL salary! This MLP (Col.4) is obtained by dividing the 2015/16 price by the ’67 price. The SB Ad-flator (Col.5) multiplies Col.2 info x 125. The Super Bowl Economy is about PRICING POWER, GREAT DEMAND, LITTLE SUPPLY, VALUE ADDED, MONOPOLY, etc? (4 THE RECORD SB I drew 51.18 M viewers [CBS & NBC] or 25.6% of the US pop. SB 2015 [NBC] drew 114.4 M [Neilsen] 36%± of the pop. Will SB 50 on CBS be even greater? STAY TUNED!)
